Notes

PhotoBot is a party camera designed to initiate image capture autonomously within social settings. The device responds to movement and environmental change, periodically scanning its surroundings to record moments of activity. Anthropomorphic features were incorporated to frame this behaviour as playful rather than surveillant, with the camera visibly glancing around the room rather than remaining static. A built-in display allows people to preview images as they are captured, making the act of photographing visible and open to negotiation. In use, this visibility often prompted playful interaction, with participants responding to the camera’s movements and inviting it to take their photograph.
